For the past 4 years, the Ford Fiesta has been the most popular car bought in the UK. And this year is no different! It outsold the second-best seller by over 31,000 registrations. Now in its eight generation, the current model is one of the best ever! Details of the 2019 version have already been announced and the new model will focus on better fuel efficiency and a more personalised design both inside and out.

2018 Volkswagen Golf

2. Volkswagen Golf

Registrations – 64,829

The Volkswagen Golf is another one of the best loved models in 2018. It’s always been a British favourite and this year is no different! It has always been well-loved for its plush and spacious interior. The new version will be released this year and is looking to be another popular model but with a new and ‘fresher’ look about it.

3. Vauxhall Corsa

A directs rival to the Ford Fiesta, the Vauxhall Corsa is still a popular choice for British motorists! 4. Nissan Qashqai

Down form 3rd place from 2017, the Nissan Qashqai was the most popular SUV in Britain last year! In 2018, the Qashqai met new rivals such as the Vauxhall Mokka X, SEAT Ateca and Peugeot 3008 in the SUV category. However, still to this day though, it is a firm favourite thanks to its good fuel economy, low running costs and tough external appearance. In 2019, the Qashqai gets a facelift and a range of upgraded engines.

5. Ford Focus

Registrations – 50,492

Another Ford on the list, the Focus has always been a popular model. The latest model was introduced to give the focus a more ‘premium feel’ to rival cars such as the BMW 1 series and Mercedes A-Class. Since it replaced the Ford Escort in 1998, the Focus has been offering pleasant road manners at a reasonable price for years. The latest model of the Focus only went on sale in September 2018 so hopefully it’ll creep further up the list in 2019!

Just missing out on the top 5, the Volkswagen Polo made a solid impression in 2018. The 2019 version is now the sixth generation and the new model promises to be more high-tech than ever with a wide range of technology options and colourful trims available.

In 2018, the A-Class had seen a model change throughout the year but still managed to make it into the top 10 best-selling cars 2018! The smallest model in the Mercedes range, the A-Class doesn’t lack in class and style. It’s looking sportier than before and has a high-quality feel. Another new version of the A-Class will be appearing this year and is expected to be a class leader for technology, interior and build quality.
